The Devil is in the Detail

THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAIL
see the disputed origin of this quote: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Devil_is_in_the_detail

Does it really matter if we paint something white or off-white? Does anyone notice if that tiny nail head is sticking up, or the gallery installed your artwork just a bit lower than you’d planned? Here is something to contemplate from the book Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynne Truss

EXHIBIT A

Dear Jack,
I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me for other men. I yearn for you. I have no feelings whatsoever when we’re apart. I can be forever happy – will you let be yours?
Jill

EXHIBIT B

Dear Jack,
I want a man who knows what love is. All about you are generous, kind, thoughtful people, who are not like you. Admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me. For other men I yearn! For you I have no feelings whatsoever. When we’re apart I can be forever happy. Will you let me be?
Yours,
Jill
